AS 1536-2000 introduction and history

AS 1536-2000 introduction, here are a few part of it.The title is Cleaning and sanitizing milking equipment.
5.2 ROUTINE CLEANING SYSTEMS
5.2.1 General
There arc two alternative systems of cleaning farm milk tanks. They are conventional and iodophor systems. One particular system should be applied exclusively—the components of the two different systems should not be mixed.
A typical procedure is described in Clause 5.2.2.
NOTES:
I The conventional and iodophor systems are ‘routine systems’ which are applied routinely every time the tank is used. If. over an extended time, an unacceptably high level of deposit forms on the machine surfaces, the Lank should then be cleaned by a periodic treatment, as recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
2 It is recommended that a thermometer as specified in AS 1030 or AS 1031 be used to measure solution temperatures.
5.2.2 A typical procedure
The procedure is as follows every time the tank is emptied of milk:
(a) Immediately after the milk is removed, rinse the tank out using a low-pressure cold water hose (temperature of the water not exceeding 40°C). The tank can now be left until cleaning at any time before the next milking. However, it is desirable to minimize this period.
(h) Before cleaning, uncouple and remove all detachable accessories, such as agitator or dipstick, unless they can he cleaned in-place.
(c) Prepare the correct volume of detergent solution at the chemical supplier and equipment manufacturer’s recommended concentration. Apply it to the tank as recommended by chemical supplier/equipment manufacturer and then discard.
NOTE: Too much heat could damage the unit’s thermostat or result in the boiling of the refrigerant, with the possibility of an explosion. Too little heat could cause detergent solution to resoil the tank surface.
(d) Rinse the tank with the appropriate volume of cold water and then discard the waste water.
(e) If a sanitation step is required, prepare the correct volume of sanitizer solution at the manufacturer’s recommended concentration. Apply it to the tank and then discard it (or retain if recommended by the manufacturer).
