44.6 Ingress of liquids
Replacement: TRANSDUCERS and EQUIPMENT parts containing insulation, the failure of which could result in a safety hazard or changes in essential aspects of performance according to this standard, and which in NORMAL USE are subject to immersion in liquids, shall be watertight according to IPX7 of IEC 60529. Connectors are excluded from this requirement. After the test all requirements of this Particular Standard shall be satisfied. The test need not be performed if examination of the construction and circuit arrangement shows that no safety hazard is possible.
First, a PHYSIOLOGICAL ALARM is simulated. As soon as the visual and auditory ALARM devices indicate the ALARM , the function SILENCE / RESET is activated. This activation must disable the auditory ALARM manifestation of the physiological parameter concerned. Second, the new PHYSIOLOGICAL ALARM of another PHYSIOLOGICAL ALARM parameter is simulated. The auditory ALARM manifestation must be enabled again.
Test for compliance of the function SILENCE / RESET with LATCHED ALARM ( S ).
First, a PHYSIOLOGICAL ALARM is simulated. As soon as the visual and auditory ALARM devices indicate the ALARM , the function SILENCE / RESET is activated by the OPERATOR . This activation must disable the auditory ALARM manifestations. Second, the simulator settings are changed to a value that no longer exceeds the ALARM limit. The visual ALARM manifestations must cease without activating the function SILENCE / RESET .
Test for compliance of the function SILENCE / RESET with NON – LATCHED ALARM ( S ).
a) SILENCE / RESET is activated by the OPERATOR before the ALARM condition ceases.
First, a PHYSIOLOGICAL ALARM is simulated. As soon as the visual and auditory ALARM devices indicate the ALARM , the function SILENCE / RESET is activated by the OPERATOR . This activation must disable the auditory ALARM manifestation. Second, the simulator settings are changed to a value that no longer exceeds the ALARM limit. The visual ALARM manifestations must cease without activating the function SILENCE / RESET .
b) SILENCE / RESET is not activated by the OPERATOR .
First, a PHYSIOLOGICAL ALARM is simulated. As soon as the visual and auditory ALARM devices indicate the ALARM , the simulator settings are changed to a value that no longer exceeds the ALARM limit. The visual ALARM manifestations must cease without activating the function SILENCE / RESET . This test must be repeated for TECHNICAL ALARMS .
